How do I measure for end caps?

Internally Fitting End Caps.

For a correct fitting of an internal fitting end cap, start with the measurement of the tube's Internal Diameter (ID) with a ruler or Vernier (also known as a calliper).

Once you have the internal measurement of your tube, you can measure the Wall Thickness (WT) to ensure the head of the end cap encompasses the tube.

After you have these measurements, simply choose the cap with the relevant Body Diameter (BD) and Head Diameter (HD) to fit the tube.

Due to the materials used, you may find that certain products can stretch across a range of diameters, preventing the need for an exact measurement.

Externally Fitting End Caps.

Measure the tube diameters with a ruler or Vernier (also known as a calliper). For an external fitting cap/closure, the only measurement you’ll need is the Outer Diameter (OD) of the tube.

You can then start looking for the right external end cap to suit. Here you would need an external fitting cap with a Body Diameter (BD) that matches the Outer Diameter (OD) of the tube. Depending on the fit and look required, you may also need to look at the height of the cap and head style.
